What is a strategy?

A strategy is a saved set of conditions, such as a moving-average crossover combined with a momentum signal. Combine rules that must all match, or allow any one to match. The rules are reusable: choose a stock when you backtest or add an alert.

Rules use completed daily prices. Strategies and backtests are independent of your portfolio: you can test a stock without owning it.

Analyse, create, test and model

  1. 01

    Analyse a stock

Choose an exchange, stock and signal to inspect the available price history. You can use an analysis condition as the starting point for a reusable strategy.

  2. 02

    Create a draft

Start with an editable template or a blank draft. Name your strategy, choose upward or downward conditions and edit the indicator settings. No stock or investment amount is needed.

  3. 03

    Publish a version

Publish saves a fixed, numbered copy for testing. It stays private. Later draft edits do not change that version or its results.

  4. 04

    Test one stock

Open Backtests and choose Run backtest. Select a published version, exchange and stock, then dates within the past year. Estimate credits and confirm the cost to start.

  5. 05

    Explore the model

On completed results, select the follow-up sessions and enter an optional amount. This illustrates the same occurrences with a fixed 10% closing-price loss threshold; no new backtest is needed.

What a backtest tells you

STKLY checks your rules against each completed trading day for the selected stock and period, then measures what happened after each match.

When the rules matched
See each new occurrence. Conditions that stay true across consecutive days count once, until they stop matching and become true again.
What the price did next
Review percentage price changes after 1, 5, 10 and 20 trading days.
How the results compare
See average and median changes, how often prices rose or fell, and the same stock’s average change across the selected period.
Optional investment model
Enter an amount to illustrate each occurrence. The model ends after your selected sessions or at the first daily close at least 10% below the starting close. Losses can exceed 10%.

Trading days exclude weekends and exchange holidays. Indicator preparation uses earlier history and is excluded from the progress count. Follow-up ends at your chosen end date; results with too few remaining days or missing prices are marked unavailable and excluded from the measured sample.

Choose a starting point

Explore 8 editable templates, then adjust the rules to suit the idea you want to test. Templates are starting points, not proven results.

Long-term trend crossover

Follow a change in the long-term trend using 50- and 200-day moving averages.

Trend + momentum

Confirm a 20/50-day EMA crossover with RSI momentum.

MACD trend signal

Look for improving MACD momentum above the 200-day moving average.

Recovering pullback

Look for RSI recovering from oversold conditions within a long-term uptrend.

Stochastic recovery

Look for stochastic recovery while the 50-day average stays above the 200-day average.

Bollinger-band recovery

Look for price recovering inside the lower band while RSI remains below 40.

Breakout + volume

Look for a new 20-day high backed by volume above 1.5 times its previous average.

Overbought reversal

Identify downward conditions when MACD turns down with RSI above 70 in an uptrend.

Credits and progress

Creating and editing strategies uses no credits. A backtest uses your shared credit balance; its estimate is free and shows the cost before you confirm. System or data failures are refunded.

Tests run in the background. You can leave the page and return to see progress or saved results.

Read the results in context

Results measure historical price changes. Backtesting needs no starting capital. The optional model applies a separate amount to each occurrence, without compounding; dividends and trading costs are excluded. Check the number of measured occurrences: small samples and overlapping follow-up periods can give a misleading impression.

A backtest helps assess an idea; it does not prove it will work in future. STKLY does not place trades, and these results are not buy or sell recommendations.
